Book of the Month is looking to hire a Sr. Manager of Audiobooks to build and grow our newly created Audiobook business. This person will need to combine elements of customer strategy, product development, and consumer marketing to create a compelling competitive strategy for BOTM to pursue in the audiobook market. This role has the opportunity to grow into a true general management position that will synthesize several different disciplines to create a successful new business at BOTM. 

 

You will…

  • Conduct research, surveys, experiments, and interviews, to identify/create a set of unique value propositions BOTM will pursue to compete in the audiobook market. 
  • Work with the Product team and Content teams to define/design/build  features and content curation strategies that fulfill the proposed value propositions above. 
  • Maintain strong gross margins by proposing and making business model adjustments within the context of the existing BOTM business.
  • Lead customer acquisition efforts for audiobooks by identifying and purchasing media, making creative assets that communicate our value props in a compelling way, and creating a high converting enrollment experience
  • Integrate, align, and translate the audiobooks strategy and product with the mission of BOTM. 

About You

  • 5-7+ year experience with some combination of the following: (1) Experience leading product/business strategy from an executional perspective at a consumer technology, media, or consulting firm, (2) Experience leading consumer marketing across CRM or customer acquisition, (3) Experience in audiobooks, podcasts, or a related content discipline. 
  • Strong understanding of the audiobook market, and audio market more broadly. Having an existing network in the industry is a plus as well. 
  • Deep hands-on experience in one of the following areas (1) Product design/development, (2) Creative messaging/advertising, (3) Financial modeling and business analysis.
  • Strong financial acumen, including understanding which levers can be pulled to manage gross margins, customer acquisition costs, and LTV.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty. Ability to approach these situations iteratively.
  • Extremely resilient and relentless in pursuit of your objectives.  

 

Base salary range: $90,000 - $140,000
