Magazine Distribution Consultant

VOLUME 0 is a new lit mag we launched last year that publishes visceral short stories with edgy and taboo themes.  See more at volume0.com. We have grown to thousands of subscribers, and are now planning to expand into retail distribution.

We’re looking for a highly driven and self motivated Retail Distribution Consultant to help plan, organize, execute and scale a physical distribution initiative. While we expect the position to start initially as part time / freelance, it could expand into a full time role based on success.  

What You’ll Do

• Develop a retail activation strategy and get physical distribution off the ground.
• Source and identify potential distribution partners including both standard and creative approaches. 
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with aligned retailers, buyers, and logistics providers.
• Build sales and budget planning/forecasting and promotional strategy.
• Own retail distribution process through development and execution
• Bring a deep knowledge of distribution strategies of industry peers.

About You

• 8+ years of retail sales and distribution experience in publishing, preferably magazine experience. 
• Knowledge of how magazine distribution works.
• Highly motivated, practical person who gets things done quickly. 
• Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of retail P&L management, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Understanding of and enthusiasm for the VOLUME 0 brand and collected work.
